I own a newspaper publication (30# paper) and I have a number of people that send me their camera ready ads in Microsoft Publisher and in .PDF format. Should I save their ad as a .tiff, bitmap, or jpg prior to pasting to my layout?? I keep finding very blurry and pixelated ads. Am I supposed to save it as a .tiff?? Most of my ads have picture & text. When I paste it to my layout it looks blurry. The ads & text do not appear very good at all and prior to I go to press, I want have to have a top quality publication. Particularly if these individuals are paying for ads. I use Adobe Pagemaker for my layout. If I make the ads myself in Pagemaker, they appear wonderful!

This is a DPI concern (not image format). You’ll get a lot of pixelation if you have an image at a significant resolution, at only 72 DPI.

Print DPI is a minimum of 300 to appear even somewhat decent.

If you are running a company, you’ll want to read up on this stuff. Read up on images for publication. (Use Google).
